Swing/Jazz Standards, Vintage Country, plus Don Gibson selections

A group sure to please many folks during Art of Sound will be the duo of Roger Bellow and Vollie McKenzie, backed by Berita Martin on percussion and Robert Woodlowski on upright bass. Vollie and Roger both have some real good recorded music out and have been playing together over 20 years.

The heart and soul of this little ensemble is swing and jazz standards, classic vintage country, and originals with a bit of Don Gibson in the mix in honor of our home-town hero and legend. These are some fine musicians and one of their best assets is their choice of material and the sort of treatment they give it.

Vollie, Roger and the others are greatly respected among some mighty good performers around the country. Check out the CD sales area for Vollie’s “This Train” as well as two or three well done collaborations by Roger and some top-notch players. For a taste of Roger’s guitar work, check this out from his backing of Charleston singer Ann Caldwell at last year’s event.
